Three things to know about Grand Prix pole-sitter Robert Wickens

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”topfeed-summary-list”]

  • Wickens didn’t come up through the Road to Indy feeder series like most other first-timers, and he’s not that young, either.
  • I find it a little bit weird to call myself a rookie at 28 years old, Wickens said.
  • When Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ Mikhail Aleshin had visa problems returning from Le Mans in June, the team called on Wickens as a potential replacement.
  • Aleshin’s issues were resolved, so Wickens didn’t get to compete that weekend at Road America.
  • The Canadian pair raced together as children, and Hinchcliffe helped Wickens get the opportunity last season.
