Job Search With a Laser, Not a Flashlight

    [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”topfeed-summary-list”]

    • Few people can identify the industry, company, or even city of the job they want.
    • For a more focused job search – one guided by a laser-like precision – I’d suggest following the advice of Debra Wheatman at Marketing News.
    • Wheatman suggests taking the following steps to conduct a more targeted job search: – – Know what, whom, and where you want to be.
    • Use professional associations, LinkedIn, Twitter, or your own website/blog to get the message out about your job search.
    • By knowing what you want – and what you don’t – you take a more precise, laser-like approach to the job search.

    • We all know that Geometry Dash has been growing up since the day of release, to a point where indie games rarely make it.
    • Geometry Dash now has a huge fanbase with a lot of active players who enjoy playing the game.
    • I think that RobTop should heavily consider hiring some people to speed up the process of making updates, as it seems that he does not care about the game anymore, and just does for the money that it gives to him.
    • GD fanbase, you may not have realised, but RobTop’s interest towards this game has decreased substantially since a few updates ago (aka some years ago).
    • It’s either he hires people who make him feel comfortable with the game again or he quits the game and we all won’t have Geometry Dash anymore.

How to Build a Mission-Driven Company

    [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”topfeed-summary-list”]

    • Every successful company has a well-defined mission that imbues team members’ day-to-day activities with purpose.
    • When building a mission-driven company, all hires must be approach from this angle: How will a candidate’s contributions in a specific role further the company’s mission?
    • Candidates, too, should be given a clear understanding of the role, its goals, and how it aligns with the company’s mission and vision.
    • Not only does every employee in the company now have an executive-level understanding of why the organization exists, but they are also better able to carry our mission into every client interaction.
    • Employees must rally around it at every turn, and customers and candidates should be inspired by the mission to do business with or work for your company.

H-1B Visas, Immigration & the Travel Ban

    [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”topfeed-summary-list”]

    • Jon walks us through what we as employers can expect as the April 1st H-1B visa deadline draws near especially since the recent executive order signed by President Trump has shined a very bright spotlight of the topic of immigration, visas and potential changes employers can expect.
    • One of the biggest surprises for myself was learning about the H-1B visa lottery and how the deck is often stacked against small employers who are submitted a smaller number of visas which Jon talks about in the podcast.
    • Jon also talks about the importance of Indian outsourcing companies to the technology industry and how changes in the number of H-1B visas issued in the future will not just impact larger employers like Google, Facebook and Microsoft but more importantly smaller technology companies and employers who rely on outsourcing…
    • Aside from the discussion concerning H-1B visas and the changes that President Trump has already made and will likely make concerning immigration and the impact on employers, Jon talked in depth about how HR and business leaders can help influence the future of immigration specifically when it comes to expressing…
    • Jon sites a shocking statistic that shows that for every H-1B visa holder up to 40 jobs are created by the business and to support that STEM worker.

Will a robot recruiter be hiring you for your next job?

    [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”topfeed-summary-list”]

    • “The benefits are huge,” says Eyal Grayevsky, CEO of Mya Systems, which has created an AI recruiter called Mya.
    • Job candidates, meanwhile, benefit by receiving a guaranteed response from Mya.
    • Frida Polli, CEO of Pymetrics, which uses AI to pair people with suitable jobs, says robo-recruiters can also help employers become more diverse by removing some of the unconscious bias in the hiring process.
    • • The AI interviewer – – When a candidate applies for a job online, Mya introduces herself and initiates a dynamic, written conversation – similar to a text message format.
    • • The next stage – – If the candidate is a match, Mya will schedule an interview with a human hiring manager.
