Training Development Lead

The Learning and Development Lead supports the development of training across corporate and field-based training programs, policies, and procedures. This position requires creativity and flexibility as it will work with a variety of subject matter experts and develop for many different audiences. This includes facilitating learner-centered training programs that develop employees' skills and communicate organizational practices and service standards. This individual will design and develop training that facilitates behavior change, transfers critical knowledge, and develops strategic skills in our employees. This position is responsible for performing needs assessments, and the assessment, design, development, and implementation of Web-based, On-the
- Job, classroom, and blended learning. Ideal candidates are self-motivated individual with experience in instructor-led (ILT) training delivery, eLearning, and on-the-job (OJT) including a focus on learning modules that can be adapted to different learning styles. The incumbent will possess a high level of accountability for getting the job done and thrive in a fast-paced work environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the perspective, teamwork and respect for each other that lead to superior learning results and business improvements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Manage the development, design and implementation of new and ongoing talent and development initiatives and assessments. Build business partnerships to proactively determine learning needs to support company direction and initiatives. Responsible for end-to-end training content and deliverables. Create, and deliver classroom training, including both instructional and soft skills content. Conduct ongoing training and development needs assessments and align training objectives with overall company business goals. Develop and deliver/facilitate training programs aimed at addressing employee developmental needs. Develop in-house self-paced online learning modules. Select and implement tools for delivering the learning and development training curriculum and use of an LMS. Develop eLearning curriculum and testing modules. Define and meet project milestones and communicate progress in a timely manner. Identify metrics for training program success. Lead (through either facilitation or train the trainer, or monitoring) key Amtrak training (e.g. new employee orientation, front line manager training). Coordinate, manage, and facilitate train-the trainer and other related activities during implementation of new training programs. Drive follow-through to maximize transfer of knowledge, skills and capabilities to the job. Research and recommend best practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree, in Training, Education, Instructional Design, or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in related field. Six (6) years of business experience, preferable in training & development or related field; additional years of experience in lieu of degree. Experience in designing and delivering training and development, computer or communication-based interactive learning solutions. Background in designing and developing eLearning courses, videos, simulations, and online content. Exposure in training & learning tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Presenter, Captivate, Articulate, Photoshop (or similar), Quizmaker, Engage, Replay). Experience in leading teams of individuals through a continuous improvement effort which streamlined course deployment testing steps, reduced learner complaints, and minimizing business risk. Background in developing learning content and modules in a variety of forms. Demonstrated experience in building and leading learning programs in a highly complex organizational structure. Knowledge of design and development methods in the hospitality or service industry (e.g. customer service focused) Strong presentation skills, including written and oral communications Proven facilitation skills Ability to influence others, including peers, partners and leaders, to identify and deliver effective learning solutions Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to build strong partnerships and relationships to service training needs of organization Ability to perform as an effective team player and assume role of team leader as needed Proficiency in PC skills, including Word, Power Point, Excel PREFERRED

QUALIFICATIONS

Eight (8) + years of business experience, preferable in training & development or related field Master's Degree in Training, Education, Instructional Design Certificate programs within the Training & Development discipline Experience developing customer service/customer experience training Experience working in a customer service role Certifications in programs such as 360 Feedback, MBTI, etc. Experience in eLearning course development software Experience working with business leaders to develop effective training content
