HPL is seeking a highly driven, talented and experienced professional to serve as Social Media Manager (Senior Communications Specialist) with the Marketing & Communication Division. This is a new role for the Department as it grows to support the operational and outreach needs of Houstonians impacted by COVID-19.The successful candidate will be abreast of current trends impacting libraries in today s technology driven society and delivering results within a high-performance environment, The Content Designer will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with internal customers to develop graphic designs and copy edits to effectively share information with Houston s diverse population.


+ Develops appropriate communication tools utilizing scripts, speeches, etc.
+ Creates and produces a wide variety of graphic art and promotional materials.
+ Write, review and edit communications and copy on graphic products/layouts, such as marketing materials and social media messages.
+ Encourage internal customers and desktop publishers to help expand the Department s reach on social media.
+ Provides limited supervision and work assignment for departmental volunteers and/or other department employees.
+ Provide feedback to the Department s varied program areas about graphic concerns and issues, with the goal of strengthening the brand of HPL.
+ Tasks include coordinating shooting and production, responsibilities of the video cameraman and production and post-production of video.
+ Performs other duties as delegated by the Deputy Assistant Director. Essential Characteristics:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in art, design, communications, typography or a closely related field.


Two (2) years of experience in media, public relations, the art field or a closely related field are required. Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
