Kidde detection is hiring a Robust Design Engineer. This is a quality focused role reporting to design engineering. Key responsibility is analyzing product development activities for compliance to Carrier / Kidde safety and quality standards. Working with design engineers, you will use your hands-on technical skills to fully understand the product requirements, architecture, and detailed design to assure compliance with Carrier quality SOP's, co-authoring quality related artifacts as required. Focus will be on FMEA, hazard analysis, risk analysis, and design margins. This is a transverse role working closely with Systems engineering, Design engineering, Quality, and product safety.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate within the systems engineering team, design engineering, and Carrier quality to assure NPD and sustaining activities meet all design robustness goals.
  • Collaborate with architects, safety & compliance specialists, and test engineering to support the systems 'V' on NPD and sustaining projects.
  • Work with lab test team to verify test results are recorded and detailed appropriately
  • Critically review all design artifacts supporting product quality to ensure compliance with internal standards, agency requirements, and design targets for design and performance margins.
  • Collaborate with quality engineering to understand customer complaints, production issues, and agency nonconformances to continuously improve product design.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years as a Systems Engineer or design engineer in safety-critical engineering
  • Strong technical background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with DFMEA, SHA, and risk analysis in safety-critical products
  • Proactive and highly self-motivated; demonstrates critical thinking capabilities with strong attention to detail
  • Interpersonal skills to work with several departments, including product management, engineering, and quality teams
  • Experience with one or more requirements management tool suites
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A. without restrictions

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in an electrical, computer, or mechanical engineering (or related field) required
  • MS in Systems Engineering is a significant plus
