Registered Nurse: Staff and Wound Care - Cape Girardeau, Missouri - Wound Care

Description Day Shift.
Delivers Nursing Care by developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families/support person to understand patient conditions, medications, and self-care skills; noting changing conditions and needs; re-evaluating care objectives. Thisposition will float between inpatient nursing units and the inpatient Wound Care team. Begin Assures quality care by adhering to professional standards, healthcare organization policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and The Joint Commission standards.
Maintains cooperative relationships among healthcare team members.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations; adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns.
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
Protects healthcare organization value by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches.
Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions to appropriate healthcare team member.
Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
Instruct individuals, families, or other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention and management.
Provides patient care by reviewing providers orders; communicating the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health care team; coordinating with other healthcare providers; providing physical, emotional psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families/support person; conferring with providers.
Resolves patient issues by conferring with parties involved.
Maintaining standards of professional nursing care Promotes a culture of safety by maintaining awareness of patient's safety needs at all times; acts as a patient advocate by voicing concerns, using chain of command as necessary; adheres to safety practices i.e. safety huddles, bedside shift report.
Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories; examining patients; documenting patient physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors; conferring with family/support person; developing a nursing diagnosis;establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions, schedules, and timetables.
Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions and monitor patients for reactions orside effects.
Preparing patient for and assisting with exams as needed. Explaining procedures/treatment/discharge to patient andfamily members to alleviate apprehension and to verify understanding of procedure/dischargeIV therapy competency including care for central lines.
Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
Appropriate supervision and delegation of duties to Unlicensed Assistive Personnel and other ancillary staff.
Assures compliance with Joint Commission standards regarding National Patient Safety Goals and other areas ofaccreditation. Other specified duties as assigned for patient care and unit specific competenciesAny other duties as needed to drive to the Vision, fulfill the Mission, and abide by the Values of the organization.
Float to all inpatient nursing areas with the exception of closed units.
Provides consultation to inpatient nursing staff, medical staff and patients as well as education to patients and theirfamilies for complex wound, ostomy and incontinence.
Ability to perform wound assessment, reassessment and management for all patients as per policy.
Assist in development and implementation of policies and procedures to manage patients with draining wounds, fistulaeand/or tubes; wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care and incontinence.
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of staging of pressure injuries/wounds and assist staff with dressing changes if needed.
Become Graduated from an accredited professional nursing program.
Registered professional nurse licensed by the State of Missouri and current CPR certification.
Broad and thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.
Knowledge of patient rights and laws relative to those rights, such as HIPAAAbility is required to perform assessments and nursing functions as acquired in the basic nursing preparation programIs knowledgeable of federal and state regulations that affect area of practice.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbalUse computer and computer-interfaced equipment to perform work duties.
Maintains quality service by enforcing quality, diversity, and customer service standards.
Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills working in a team environment
