Product Manager - Instrument Control Software

Job Description

This position will be responsible for co-managing (coordinating with the existing Switzerland-based software Product Manager) the INSTINCT V software product, which provides instrument programming and control for the Microlab VANTAGE, Hamilton's next-gen automated liquid handling platform. This position will serve as the product champion for proactive development/enhancement, support and promotion of the product across R&D, Production, Sales, Support and Marketing channels to ensure customer experience and satisfaction objectives are met and/or exceeded. Your vision will help shape the future of INSTINCT V instrument control software in supporting increased adoption of the VANTAGE platform in laboratories worldwide.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide strategic direction and customer-driven insight that supports 5 plus years development/enhancement plans for INSTINCT V, Hamilton's advanced instrument control software for the VANTAGE automated pipetting platform.
  • Provide product support for internal Hamilton
    - Reno stakeholders (e.g. Sales, Marcom, Applications, Service, Market Segment Leaders, R&D, MFG, Training).
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of product requirements, target market trends, unmet customer needs and key competition via market research reports, direct customer dialog/surveys and internal stakeholder feedback.
  • Manage and develop new value-add product ideas from inception to execution, interacting with R&D, QA, Sales, Support and MarCom teams to ensure timely development and coordinated product rollout and promotion.
  • Participate and assist R&D to ensure software stability and usability as well as the look and feel of the graphical user interface (GUI) are top-line priorities.
  • Participate and assist with Marcom activities including collateral creation, generation of sales tools, formal presentations to customers and internal stakeholders, attending trade show exhibitions and support of ancillary activities (e.g. end-user symposia; Annual Sales Mtg).
  • Continue professional and technical education, attending workshops, seminars, etc.

    • Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Scientific field is required.
  • Understanding of the scientific method/testing process via direct hands-on experience and/or education is required.
  • 5 plus years of experience in technical applications is required, supporting Life Science laboratory automated liquid handling customers with workflow development and software method programming. Alternatively, candidates with a minimum of 2 years experience in software product management within Life Science laboratory automation robotics will also be considered.
  • Experience with methodology of software development and knowledge in User Experience (UX) is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence; expertise in communicating with software design and engineering teams strongly desired.
  • Must have excellent written/verbal skills and demonstrated ability to effectively present and communicate to both technical and non-technical audience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power.
    Point applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and initiatives is a must.
  • Be willing to reside in Reno, NV and travel (some international) to meet with colleagues, partners, customers and support ancillary activities (e.g. trade shows, sales meetings).
