Principal Embedded Software Engineer

Thriving Lidar company needs your embedded firmware expertise We have leveraged advances in microfabrication, advanced computing, material science, and semiconductors to improve the performance, reliability, and cost of LiDAR systems for smartphone lidar chips and for the self-driving car industry. Our technology is the culmination of years of fundamental research into controlling electromagnetic waves in metamaterials. We are a well-funded startup in the Seattle area transitioning from research to production. We are looking for Firmware Engineers, Embedded Engineers and Systems Engineers to join our team of talented, multi-disciplinary engineers. As an embeddedfirmware engineer you will lead development of firmware and software for lidar prototypes and products. In a Principal role you will be responsible for all phases of development architecture, implementation, integration, testing, build and release. You will develop prototypes and transition prototypes to mature software products 3 Awesome reasons to work here You will make your parents proud by changing the future Work with super smart people in in electrical, optical, materials and other engineering fields Financially rewarding now (salary and benefits) and in the future (stock options) as we succeed together What you need for this Position Bachelor's Degree (or Higher) in Computer Science of Computer Engineering 7 plus years of experience as a Firmware Engineer, Software Architect, Embedded Software Engineer, Embedded Systems Engineer, Computer Scientist or related Experience working in both prototyping and formal product development environments Ability to partition designs and justify tradeoffs between hardware, firmware, and software Experience in software architecture and API development Ability to develop applications that leverage common network protocols like TCPIP and network applications like SSH, SFTP, etc. Experience with various software design patterns, especially object-oriented design Experience programming in C, C++ and Python Experience developing software drivers and interfacing with hardware modules Ability to read and review PCB schematics and layouts Demonstrated ability developing firmware that leverages common interconnect protocols like USB, JTAG, I2C, SPI, etc.
Experience with common labdebug tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and network protocol analyzers Experience working in a Test Driven Development environment Ability to implement robust frameworks for unit testing and integration testing Experience working with common version-control systems like Git We'd be really excited if you have some of the following Experience in DevOps and SQA Experience with continuous integration tools like Jenkins, Bamboo and Pipelines Experience with continuous delivery, software handoff and interfacing with customers Experience maintaining and provisioning virtual work environments, for example with Vagrant and Ansible What's in it for you In addition to a competitive salary (wide range of 100K to 200K based on skills and experience) we offer a full benefits package and early stage shares in a well-funded start-up.
