LGHA is a 204-bed acute care facility located in Low Moor, Virginia who serves patients in both Virginia and West Virginia, offering a full range of medical specialties - from emergency medicine to general surgery. They are also home to the Senior Transitions program - a 15-bed specialty unit for seniors with emotional and behavioral issues requiring short-term acute stabilization. Our Emergency Department is located on the 1st floor of our facility. We are a 10-bed unit with 3 hall beds, 4 vertical beds, 1 triage room, and our census averages 41 patients per day. We are looking for someone to join our team!
Under general supervision, the Patient Care Assistant functions as a member of the ER team, creating and maintaining quality patient care in accordance with established Policies and Procedures of Alleghany Regional Hospital.
THE SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND FUNCTIONS OF THIS ROLE:
Assists in transportation and nursing care of all emergency room patients of all ages, as well as assisting with and assuming general departmental duties and responsibilities.
Expected to perform most job duties as directed by the Registered Nurse and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Performs assessments, treatment, and/or care for the all age groups. Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care, based on physical, pyscho/social, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area. Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care. Works with RN and LPN gathering all necessary equipment and supplies to meet patient needs. Uses supply scan to maintain an adequate amount of supplies to meet the patient's changing needs. Assists medical team with safe transfer of patient from stretcher or wheelchair to other departments. After competency may initiate and record vital signs, record and I&O.Completes all assigned tasks and duties accurately and timely. Anticipates patients' needs throughout activity of daily living procedures. Demonstrates competency in handling medical equipment and instruments. Utilizes a collaborative interdisciplinary process to provide appropriate patient/family education. Reports all completed tasks to the LPN or RN. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor, RN, or LPN.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of a Nursing Assistantclass (required) or a Certified Nursing Assistant (preferred)Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) atany level (preferred) EXPERIENCE:
