* The Operations Technician III - Federal ISP supports ahighly-skilled technical team working on complex network systemequipment, and installation and maintenance assignments. The OpsTech will configure, install, test, and maintain network fiberoptic equipment (OC-3 to OC-192, and Dense Wavelength Division.

Job Description

*
* Strongworking knowledge and experience on DWDM Layer 1, Metro Ethernetand IP communications (IPv4, IPv6, routing protocols)
* Technicalknowledge and experience on contemporary technologies (e.g.
MPLS,TDM, Ethernet, eLAN-eLine, TCP/IP, BGP, QoS, IP, etc)
* Proactivelymonitor and respond to and resolve network alarms. Perform circuitand equipment/network restoration, recognize potential jeopardyconditions and notify management and Program Office with riskpotential and impact assessments
* Management of circuits (T1 -100Gb, Ethernet & IP), perform testing and activation of newnetwork circuits as well as long-haul, metro and internationaloptical networks
* Work very closely with Federal government NOCcustomers for all demand and scheduled maintenance to conform tocustomer network management requirements and protocols.
* Analyzenetwork troubles, assess performance data and develop designoptimization plans accordingly
* Interface with fiber vendors,telecom providers and other entities on complex technical matters
* Participate as a Lead/SME to select customers to participate inregular customer meetings, procedural reviews, audits, and otherfunctions
* Review and interpret EDPs and as-built engineeringdocumentation
* Coordinate and track RMA requests, including vendorinterface to obtain RMA authorization requests and completion ofRMA submittal forms

Qualifications

*
* Associate degree inEngineering, Electronics, Software, or Networks; or a relatedtechnical or vocational education or equivalent experience. Sevenor more years applicable work experience
* Minimum of 5+ yearsexperience with SONET based, long-haul and metro transportnetworks, next-generation DWDM wavelength systems, SD
H networkswith SNCP rings, DCCS cross-connect systems and/or Ethernet, VPLS,IP, MPLS
* Preferred Cisco CCIP, CCDP, CCNP certifications, Juniperor ALU data networking equivalent
* Previous experience withbroadband and/or narrowband circuit maintenance, testing andrestoration, provisioning databases and circuit activations
* Previous experience with routers, IP protocols, configurations,interfaces is strongly preferred.
* Analyze, test and repair Layer2/3 network problems. Ensure services conform to customer mandatedSLAs for latency, packet loss, jitter, throughput. Ability to testusing standard protocols, as well as Iperf and Brix platforms.
* Demonstrated leadership profile to manage customer networks,proactively track and escalate issues, engage resources to expediteservice/network outages, professional interaction skills withcustomers and management
* Ability to relate technical issues tomanagement and Gov't personnel
* Prior experience with Transportplatforms (i.e. Nortel, Cisco, Ciena, Lucent and Tellabs) and Dataplatforms (Cisco, Juniper, Adtran)
* Must be able to effectivelymanage multiple issues simultaneously through effective workprioritization.
* Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions andlogical thinking when under pressure
* Demonstrated ability totrain, coach and develop technical skill set of shift technicians
* Previous experience with Gov't networks and customers. Ability tointerface in a professional manner with management and customer isessential
* Flexibility with regard to work levels and shiftaccommodation is imperative
* TS/SCI
