Opportunity Navigator, Saint Paul

Despite being employed, 1 in 3 people in the Twin Cities Metro don’t earn a living wage. Help us change this by offering your time and talent as an Opportunity Navigator. Navigators help people advance their career goals and become economically stable. You will be trained to conduct interest and skills assessments, identify employment goals and create action plans with clients, while helping them build confidence and skills along the way. We are currently recruiting for the 2021-22 program year with opportunities beginning in September, November, and January. Your commitment to Opportunity Corps will be 40 hours per week.   This is an Ameri.
Corps member position with Minnesota Opportunity Corps. Although the earnings are modest, the rewards are great!
You’ll join an amazing cohort of Opportunity Navigators from all backgrounds and experiences. Support adult clients in ongoing development of their individualized career and education plans. Learn to navigate social services resources, programs and benefit systems in the Twin Cities Metro to provide excellent services to clients. Foster strong relationships with clients to help them build their confidence and skills, and encourage them to have agency over their career and education goals. Participate in training and professional development throughout the year, including the nationally-recognized Global Career Development Facilitator training. Embed yourself into the local non-profit community to get hands-on experience in social services. Be an ambassador of the program by sharing your experience with the wider community. While your clients benefit from employment and education services, you’ll be rewarded with more than just a sense of satisfaction. Opportunity Navigators receive a perks package that includes: A stipend of $750 paid every 2 weeksUp to $6,345 for tuition or student loans

Corps

Education

Award can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans. Individuals 55+ may gift their award to their child, grandchild, foster child or step-child. Great members come from all walks of life. No matter your experience and background, the most important qualification is a desire to serve your community. That said, you also need to meet the following minimum qualifications by the time you begin your service. Are dependable and have a history of good attendance.
Able to understand and follow instructionsCan set a pace and maintain a work schedule of 40 hours per week.
Have professional computer skills (like using email, Microsoft Office Suite, data entry, and video conferencing software)Can speak, read, and write English fluently18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States
* Agree to and successfully complete a background check
* Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve as Ameri.
