Data Analyst (Mid-Level)
Job Overview JDSAT is an Operations Research and Data Sciences firm currently seeking an enthusiastic, self-driven, and experienced Data Analyst to support the US Navys Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) in developing data products, conducting exploratory analysis, writing algorithms, and developing data-related applications to support organizational decisions. We are seeking candidates who thrive in a challenging and dynamic work environment and who want their work to make real-world impacts. The qualified candidate will be educated and experienced in a field related to data analytics, such as statistics, economics, computer science, operations research, data science, or similar. Candidate must be able to operate as part of a data science team and comfortable with data management, data engineering, statistics, data exploration, and data visualization. The Data Analyst will liaise with data owners, become expert in relevant data systems, and manipulate and analyze complex data to produce decision-supporting results for Navy leaders. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert who is also technically balanced and able to interface with client personnel and prepare professional communication products such as papers and briefs. This position requires a SECRET clearance or demonstrated ability to obtain such clearance.
RESPONSIBILITIES Contribute to a Data Analytics Team to deliver technical solutions that meet client requirements in order to create dynamic data visualization and analysis tools to increase the ability of leadership to make informed decisions.
Work with clients, managers, and technical staff to understand business needs and translate these needs into technical models.
Liaise with customers and technical team members to improve algorithm effectiveness against Key Performance Indicators Extract, transform, integrate, and analyze data from disparate relational database management systems.
Conduct exploratory analysis and data visualization.
Support implementation of data and analytical products at disparate locations.
Support implementation of proof of concepts to help make technology choices and validate modeling assumptions.
Develop professional communication products in technical and functional areas that communicate business value to the client. Includes briefings (oral and written), white papers, and reports.
RequirementsRequired Skills and Abilities Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Research, Data Science, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Analysis, Statistics, Mathematics, or related STEM field.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a relevant field as described above.
Experience with data visualization (Excel, Tableau, Qlik, etc.). Experience extracting, transforming, and loading data using SQL and relational databases.
Experienced in algorithm development using data science languages such as Python, R, Java, Scala, etc.
Experience with Excel and Visual Basic for Applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Possess, or be able to obtain, a SECRET-level security clearance. Desired Skills and Abilities Masters of Science degree in Operations Research, Data Science, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Analysis, Statistics, Mathematics, or related STEM field, with minimum of three (7) years of experience in a related field.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in DoD Experience creating, developing, and implementing data analytics architecture, including data warehousing, data visualization, analytic modeling, and reporting.
Experience with Big Data/Distributed computing (Hadoop, Hive, Cassandra, Spark, etc.) Experience creating, developing, and implementing large-scale optimization models.
Experience creating, developing, and implementing large-scale agent-based and discrete event simulation.
Experience applying Robotic Process Automation to recurring analytics activities.
Experience as a consultant balancing technical and non-technical functional roles.
