POSITION

OVERVIEWDo you want to work to help students in middle and high school stay engaged and feel supported with sports, enrichment activities and academic activities after school?
The Drop-in Center Coordinator leads the Drop-in Center program. The program works directly with young people helping them overcome barriers to their success by connecting them with enrichment activities and additional resources to help them succeed in school, graduate from high school, and enroll and engage in a post-secondary opportunity or obtain employment on the path to self-sufficient income.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESStaff Coaching and Data-driven Program Implementation
* Meet with individual staff weekly for data driven supervision to manage performance and competencies: Ensure staff understand all job duties, competencies, and their individual performance.
Coach staff in Domus model of positive youth development: Sanctuary, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Thoughts
- Emotions
- Behavior, (other program-specific models)Provide training, coaching, feedback to help staff set goals and priorities and to develop staff potential / performance.
Help staff improve performance in engaging youth in loving relationships and building initial outcomes.
Assess staff and team performance.
Provide effective leadership, weekly team meetings to inspire excellence and coordinate.
Ensure staff understand and implement program with fidelity to program design, including: Set program calendar and schedule activities monthly, getting youth feedback.
Manage program calendar and ensure staff know it (includes managing scheduled dates and scheduling needed trainings etc.)Ensure staff meet program quality standards.
Ensure youth surveys are done and resulting data is used to improve the program.
Respond effectively and safely to crisis situations, in accordance with Domus policy.
Oversee all enrichment opportunities for youth.
Assess when we are veering off course and redirect staff / team.
Assess, develop, and improve, as needed, all components of the programUse data at the individual and group level to improve the program.
Program Administration
* Design and manage program budget.
Ensure that program utilization is maximized. Recruit and retain young people by offering fun, engaging, meaningful and safe programming.
Understand and comply with Domus policies and procedures regarding financial management and human resources, and ensure team understands and complies.
Recruiting, selecting, onboarding, and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities.
Partner with internal Domus administrative staff teams (data, development, finance), so all functions communicate and coordinate effectively and efficiently to achieve outcomes.
Active participant in your own development; participate in regular supervision.
Develop Community Partnerships
* Build mutually beneficial relationships with partners necessary to help develop the drop-in center into a vibrant, exciting place to beCultivate and take care of community relationships so that all partners are receiving more than they require.
Relentless Relationship Building with young people
* Engage students in 1-1, face to face, positive, life changing relationships and become a trusted, go-to resource.
Utilize teachable moments to teach/model interpersonal communication skills.
Provide skills building on the hoof (in real time)Use method of assertive friendliness actively seeking contact with students rather than waiting to be greeted, or for a student to ask for help.
Assess ongoing needs of the household and provide connections to resources as necessary.
Address youths past and current traumas and stressors as they relate to the underlying drivers of current behavioral challengesUse Domus core principles to build relationships, most importantly never giving up and giving many chancesNOTE: This list is a guide. You will also be responsible for other tasks and projects as may be assigned by your supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS


* Bachelors degree required and experience working with target population required. Program leadership experience preferred. Typical schedule is Monday - Friday,10am
- 6pm, program operates until 9pm, some evenings and weekends required, as is the ability to respond to staff after the end of your day.
Valid CT drivers License required, must be able to obtain an A endorsement.
