Job Description

As a member of the Advanced Technology Manufacturing team, you will be part of defining, developing, implementing, and transitioning new technology solutions to design teams and manufacturing that increase efficiency, reduce cost, improve quality and deliver customer value. This role will focus on future battery solutions that address the challenges associated with expanding functionality and rising performance expectations while satisfying complex form factors. You will facilitate the timely and targeted advancement of the battery/cell aspects of prioritized projects that mature manufacturing and supply chain capabilities that meet or exceed the needs of our customers and that enable competitive advantage through differentiation in our products. It will involve interfacing with internal and external teams, program management offices, multiple engineering disciplines, and executive management. In addition, the role will require the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently in a dynamic/fast-paced work environment. Requires cross-disciplinary systems thinking approach to problem solving and solution implementation. As a battery expert, you should be able to identify and evaluate the most up to date advancements in battery technology and the cell/pack manufacturer landscape across multiple chemistries and process options. You should also be able to recommend the most suitable battery suppliers and technologies for future Business Units' product needs and manage advanced development collaborations with international cell/pack suppliers. Job Responsibilities

Works with Battery Commodity Team, SM
Es and stakeholder organizations to establish and maintain new technology roadmaps for required battery solutions aligned with the prioritized ATM portfolio Drives the identification of battery related design and process challenges, potential opportunities, solution vetting, and capability maturing for approved projects and is responsible for the on-time, high-quality, successful hand-off of solutions and know-how to development and/or manufacturing organizations Proactively identifies project roadblocks and works with team and leadership to address them Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced team environment Comfortable working in the less certain culture and climate typical of advanced development work Develops critical relationships and establishes ways of working with cross-divisional and cross-functional team members both within Bose and with outside vendors Lead cross functional team to identify and mature new optimum battery solutions through Research and Advanced Development in preparation for Exploration and Development Provide subject matter expertise and drive activities that characterize and de-risk next generation battery cell solutions based on projected new product requirements Drive the development of collaborative advanced development efforts with the industry Knowledgeable of cell manufacturing. With the commodity team, identify viable suppliers, evaluate next generation technologies, and assess technical aptitude Knowledge & Skill

Requirements

Direct experience in battery cell R&D, extensive knowledge of rechargeable battery chemistries and testing methodology In-depth understanding of rechargeable battery industry landscape Demonstrated ability to problem solving cell issues Excellent communication and documentation skills Fluent in Mandarin a plus 15% travel to international manufacturing facilities expected Product development experience on complex assemblies incorporating plastics, metals, glass, textiles, and integrated electronics preferred Experience working with suppliers in development and manufacturing strongly preferred

Education

Experience

10 years + technical product development experience or applied research experience, preferably in battery solutions for consumer electronics or related industries. Demonstrated track record of driving progress and results in complex technical programs. Experience tackling abstract problem solving and ability to drive concrete action in the uncertain territory of advanced development.
