API Inspector- Linden, NJ

This position will be responsible for providing support for the equipment inspection, test, and repair portions of the overall Mechanical Integrity/Quality Assurance effort at the Morses Mill (Linden, NJ) site. The site produces Sulfuric Acid and processes spent Sulfuric Acid. The position will be based out of the Morses Mill site.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop/Authorize/Maintain and implement standardized inspection plans for all PSM Critical Equipment, to include: pressure vessels, piping, storage tanks, etc.

  • Perform equipment inspection in accord with API 510, 653 and 570 guidelines and regulations;

  • Complete post inspection reports and provide recommendations or modifications needed;

  • Standardize, organize, and maintain required documentation (design bases, inspection plans, inspection reports, etc.) in accord with corporate and site MIQA best practices;

  • Update SAP and equipment files with equipment history, Inspection Plans, etc.

  • Ensure that all inspections and tests are performed in accordance with the original equipment design basis and in alignment with recognized and accepted good engineering practice (RAGAGEP).

  • Act as a resource to help guide and ensure that the maintenance organization properly documents all repairs to fixed PSM Critical Equipment in accordance with OSHA 1910.119.

  • Evaluate the fitness-for-service of all fixed PSM Critical Equipment and assist other Technical/Maintenance resources in properly developing and documenting any repairs to return the equipment service.

  • Perform necessary calculations required within the RAGAGEP to determine the minimum allowable thickness of pressure vessels, piping, and tanks in PSM Critical service.

  • Provide functional guidance to Veolia and contract NDE Examiners

  • Evaluate results of various non-destructive inspections on process equipment

  • Act as an "Authorized Inspectors" for PSM Critical pressure vessel, piping, and storage tank inspections and tests, as well as for approval of all alterations to PSM Critical pressure vessels, piping, and storage tanks;

  • Manage the Corrosion Monitoring program Ultra.

  • Develop Quality Assurance Plans for fabrication of new equipment (ex. tanks, pressure vessels, piping, etc )

  • Perform/coordinate QA inspections of new equipment

  • Estimate equipment remaining life per the applicable RAGAGEP

  • Maintaining the site Owners User Manual

Qualifications

Basic Qualification

  • 3 plus years work experience within high hazardous chemical processing or oil refining industries or similar industries

  • At least 2 out of 3 of the following certifications:
    API 510 API 570, API 653

  • Able to travel 5% per year

  • Must have a current and valid drivers license

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering

  • Ability to obtain missing API certification within 2 years of employment

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of API 510, 570, 653; 579, 580, ASME B31.1, B31.3, Section V,VIII, IX, NBIC, NACE SP0294 requirements governing inspection & tests, fitness for service, and repair of process piping, pressure vessels, and tanks

  • Proven success in development and implementation of inspection plans for critical piping, pressure vessels, and storage tanks.

  • Extensive experience in evaluating fitness for service (API579) of fixed process equipment within a hazardous chemical manufacturing environment.

  • Familiar with Risk Based Inspection strategies.

  • Familiar with Relief Device RAGAGEP

  • Demonstrated strength in development, implementation and analysis of repair procedures for fixed equipment in a hazardous chemical manufacturing environment

  • Thorough knowledge of non-destructive examination techniques, including UT, VT, RVT, RT, MT, Eddy Current, IRIS, Shear Wave, etc. Level II certifications a plus

  • Knowledge of welding practices and procedures

  • Ability to perform confined space entry

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, coupled with superior oral and written communication skills, enabling ability to influence all levels of personnel.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with standard software applications in business, i.e.
    MS Word, Excel, Power.
